Fletcherfoto Studio and Gallery gone but not forgotten

Careful observers may have noted that Fletcherfoto Studio and Gallery beside Merit Furniture is now closed. It has been vacated so that Merit Furniture can expand. 1 for furniture. 0 for arts. No worries Fletcherfoto still exists. Work continues and new shows are being developed to show my work. I will be in the Firehouse Wine Bar sometime in the spring with a slide show and talk about photography. I will be travelling to Malta in July to finalize the summer 2014 Malta photo and writing workshops. There is a strong possibility that I will also be leading a Long Beach weekend workshop this coming June. Stay tuned for more details. As always, please contact me by email if you have any questions about upcoming shows, projects, tours, workshops or want more information about purchasing stock images.

Travels summer 2012

Just returned from three weeks in Europe and North Africa. The journey went by utility van from England to Wales and back to England, then off to Marrakech, Morocco via air, then by train to Tangers, then ferry to Alcerias, then train to Madrid. From Madrid I flew to the island of Gozo in Malta. I retuned from Malta to London by air, then changed airports and grabbed a flight back to Canada. Tons of photos made, and lots of amazing places visited. The highlight was visiting and exploring the island of Gozo. I liked Gozo so much I am looking at it being the destination of my next 10 day travel photo experience.

Next Up for summer

It's June already, Soleil Mannion's amazing EQUUS show, a powerful collection of horses done in oils, has come and gone, my Brentwood 3rd year photo students show,  LUX,  has already returned to the hands of the students and  Summer shooting travels to Wales, Morocco and Malta are fast approaching.
Next up on the gallery walls is Jeff Birkin's unique i CANDY show, a collection of IPad images that he has been making for the last few years. Jeffrey is one of my favourite artists and was the first artist to ever show at Fletcherfoto when he brought back his Mexico show from when he last showed it at my long-ago VisionQuest Gallery. Welcome back Jeffrey! Jeffrey will also keep the gallery open for summer hours till my return in Late July.

Mexico 2012

Just spent 2 weeks shooting in and around Rincon de Guyabitos including a 2 day side trip to San Blas. Had a super time. Lots of good food, Pacifico and marguerites of course. And tons of great photos that are now up on my new Mexico 2012 gallery page (check it out at http://www.fletcherfoto.ca/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=7259). Next trip Europe in July and then Ride the Pipe in August (more about this later. In the meantime the Long Beach Weekend Workshop is on for June 15-17 and VIU beginners course is booked for this spring, fall of 2012 and spring of 2013. Might even consider trying the Mexico phototour idea again. Perhaps to Guyabitos instead of Mazatlan this time. Stay tuned for more.

Long Beach Photography Workshop

I have finally confirmed the 2011 Long Beach 3 day weekend photography workshop for June 15-17. We will be staying at the Ocean Village Resort. Accommodations are double occupancy, so if you are not traveling with a friend or a partner, then we will double you up with a compatible person. The cabins are right beside the beach and have small kitchens if you want to eat in. Saturday night we will likely eat together at a local restaurant where we can share our days adventures. We will meet at the Ocean Village Resort mid afternoon on the 15th and leave mid afternoon on the Sunday. We will have a meeting room at our accommodation where we will be able to have a nightly review of our days work. We will be visiting beaches, the intertidal zone at low tide, the fishing village of Tofino and some rainforest trails. There will be lots of one-on-one instructional opportunities. Recommended equipment includes a DSLR camera with extra lenses, a sturdy tripod, and a dedicated flash. Cost of the workshop instruction and accommodation is $400
Please let me know if you would be interested in attending this workshop. 250 732-0462
